Leading an Equity-minded Consortium: Including and Presenting Diverse Voices
Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern
While consortia often lead cross-institutional initiatives addressing inclusion and equity in higher education, our own organizations may not present as diverse a face to the public. Like the academy itself, lack of diversity in a consortium office may be a function of small size, hiring practices or the failure to create a truly inclusive workplace. How can a consortium “walk the walk” of inclusion?
Facilitated by Vicki McGillin (John N. Gardner Institute), the conversation will feature Amy Cronin (New York Six), Kiernan Mathews (The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education), and Jessica Wise (Higher Education Recruitment Consortium). These members of the ACL community will share their experiences with--and invite dialog about--creating an inclusive hiring process, creating an inclusive workplace, diversifying your program presence and leveraging partnerships to expand your consortium’s equity profile.
The conversation will encourage audience participation. Representatives at every consortium size and in any role are encouraged to register. The VPD Committee also encourages you to share this invitation with other organizations whom you feel may benefit.
